The production of genetically modified foods has become a controversial topic.  Should we be worried about consuming genetically modified organisms?  And how do you know if you are eating a genetically modified food product?

 

 Even local food chains like Wegmans have gotten into the conversation.

In this module we will test food brought from home.  We will isolate the DNA & use a technology call polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify (increase the number of) nucleotides isolated from the plant food.  Below is a link to brief video animation of the technique.
